Greetings everyone!

The final start list for the Oregon District TT will be posted by early

afternoon. There are some last minute changes and category swappings that

need to be included before posting to the Emerald Velo web site.

The weather for Sunday is expected to be very pleasant. No rain and little

wind in the morning. I am expecting to see a lot of good racing and personal

bests from several riders.

As a final word, please remember that we are the guests of St. Paul and

Marion County. There will be plenty of porta-potties at the St. Paul High

School. Please be courteous to our hosts. This is one of the last good time

trials courses in Oregon. It is my hope that we are welcome to come back year

after year.

To those of you who are racing, Have a good time and a safe race! For those

of you who are donating your time and energy as corner marshals. I am very

thankful!

I look forward to seeing you out on the course on Sunday.

Josh was riding a Nimble. Its all carbon. As he said jokingly, "its worth more

than my life." It might have been fine, but I don't think he wanted to risk

damaging the wheel.

Don't mean to belittle Josh's awesome finish, or any of the other riders who

flatted, but why not just ride it in? I have had many flats where I was

just too lazy to change it and rode it home. One time I even managed a rear

flat (my third of the day) for almost 40 miles and to top it of flatted the

front with 10 miles to go. I can understand not wanting to ride a clincher

From what I've read, I don't see that anyone has laid blame on the

promoters, just the idiots that spread the gravel and tacks.

P.S. For those of you that don't know, Josh Conner flatted. He

shouldered his bike and ran the last half mile and won his division. His

average speed including his run was still over 25 mph. It was truly a

special effort and a story I won't forget any time soon.

P.P.S. I didn't race, but thanks to the promoters. It is a time

consuming, thankless job. Everyone who swings a leg over a bike at a

race owes a debt of gratitude to the promoters and volunteers. Thanks

again.

I also flatted. 500m from the finish with a small brand new furniture tack

in the front tire of my tandem.

Hello David,

The West Union TT is indeed the OBRA Individual TIme Trial. I think

Craig may be talking about the Team Time Trial. FYI, the individual TT

will be held near Eugene this year. Better, safer course then the West

Union course (less traffic, smoother, better roads, flatter course

profile).

last weekend? From the OBRA Web race site it appears it has been dated for

July 30 since Feb. And, your name was on it the web site. Can you tell me
