Firecracker (props to the organizers) was everything I expected it to be.
I tend not to complain about courses unless they are downright dangerous.
And as one who has seen falling numbers of entrants in the XC MTB fields, I
often welcome the opportunity to race AT ALL. That being said, one of the
things that
I love about MTB racing IS the mental tenacity (pain management)
that it takes to do it. If I'm not doing well, or having as much fun as I
should
when I race, it just motivates me to do better or be more prepared next
time.
I agree, Firecracker was hard, but damn was it awesome! Granted, not
everyone
has all the time in the world to train and be super fit, but in my
experience the more you train,
the easier the racing gets. I'm living testament to that rule right now as
I am STRUGGLING...
but having a blast!
