Hell (of the Cascades) is Coming!

I don't think any real cat 5 racers should be doing a race like this anyway. You only need 10 mass start races to upgrade to cat 4, and if you've raced fewer than 10 times, the Hell of the Cascades probably isn't an appropriate venue for you anyway at least as a "race." There's ample opportunity for any cat 5s to get enough experience to be 4s by the time this race starts.

Just my opinion.

If you offer a Cat 5, then that field limit is restricted to 75. Sounds like no Cat 5.

I would suggest a Cat 1,2,3 field and a Cat 3,4,5 field

That is probably the best scenario to get a high # of attendees into both fields.

Have you ever thought to yourself, gee, it would be sweet to ride all of the way around Mt. Hood? How about race all the way around Mt. Hood? Well, your chance is coming up on Sunday, July 20th. Our permits are together and we are ready to run, but I need a lttle input from you all.

I have permits for two 125 rider fields. The course is about 85 miles (give or take). Do I offer a "fast" and a "not-quite-as-fast" field, or one race field and one more-like-supported-tour field? OBRA is here to serve riders and I want to offer what will most excite you (plus I want to fill my fields).

Please respond to me off list so I can finalize my flyer and you can all begin planning for your trip into Hell (of the Cascades).

Thanks!

Jeff
