Multnomah County is planning substantial repairs to the Broadway Bridge in
2003. They are considering two options: 1) to close the bridge entirely
and 2) to close the bridge partially. The first would be cheaper but
substantially disrupt access across the river.
To help them decide, the County has prepared an electronic ballot for public
input. The link to that ballot is below. We request that you complete the
survey -- recommending the partial closure. We also ask that you forward
this survey and recommendation to your staff. Absent a strong expression to
keep the bridge open, budget constraints will pressure the County toward the
full closure option. The survey ends this Sunday, November 11th.
