Howdie,
A few last-minute updates ahead of tonight's series opener of the Portland MTB Short Track Series 2008 (www.portlandracing.com).
1) Registration & Check-In: All racers have to check in at registration (from 5:00pm to 15 minutes prior to your start time). The registration tent will be located on the infield of PIR near the start/finish area. If you haven't pre-registered, we ask you to bring a filled-out and signed series waiver (posted at http://www.portlandracing.com/registration.html), which covers the whole series. Also, at tonight's race you will still have the chance to purchase a series pass ($30 for juniors, $50 for beginners, $75 for all other categories). If you have pre-registered, all you have to do is go to the pre-reg "express line" to pick up your race plate.
2) Race Plates: like last year, we plan to use our own series race plates, so no need to bring your OBRA plates.
3) Getting to PIR:
All races will start on time. Please schedule enough time to get to PIR and get all your stuff together, ride your bike from the parking lot to the infield, and get registered. Please consider use your bike, the MAX or carpool to get to PIR. Directions to PIR are posted at http://www.portlandracing.com/directions.html .
4) Track crossing:
Between 6pm and 8pm, the roadies will be racing on the PIR track. Please use the bridge whenever possible to get to and from the motocross course. If you prefer to cross through the main gate, you should use extreme caution when crossing the track. Always look both ways and don't cross the track when oncoming road racers are in sight. Please respect the course marshals' instructions.
5) Pre-riding:
The motocross track and surrounding area will be open for pre-riding from 4:00pm through 5:45pm (note: the course might not be fully marked until 5:30pm). If time allows, racers will also be able to pre-ride the course in between the race heats, but only after all racers have come through on their last lap.
All other info is posted at www.portlandracing.com
Hope to see you tonight!
~Kris
