Cross-Crusade @ Alpenrose-RACE TIMES

Brian D. Witty

2001-11-16

As many very astute readers have pointed out, I boneheaded the start times

on my previous mailing. They should be:

10am- Red Lizard XC Footrace

10:45am- Kiddie 'Cross

11am- Beginner/ Masters 45+

11:50am- Women A, Women B, Women 35+, Juniors

12:40pm- Cat. B Men

1:30pm- Cat. A Men/ Masters 35-44

Sorry about the confusion.......

As an added bonus, the weather outlook looks to be quite nice for the

weekend.

See You All on Sunday,

Brian,

Is the course set up now?

Also, those start times are correct, yeah? Earlier than usual.

Thanks,

Erik

The seventh round of the River City Bicycles Cyclo-Cross Crusade goes

back

to the familiar stomping grounds at the Alpenrose Dairy.

Alpenrose dairy is

crowd favorite venue that always attracts large numbers of competitors

and

spectators alike. The course this time around will be similar, yet

different.   Kind of a "Greatest Hits of the Cross Crusade"

course that is a

conglomeration of many of the best features we've thrown at you

in the past.

The course will have something for everyone. It will be an open,

relatively

fast course that with a good mix of fields, dirt (or more appropriately,

mud) and pavement- with enough technical riding to please even the most

seasoned 'cross veteran.

The racing in all of the categories promises to be good as the Alpenrose

race is the final tune-up for the State Championship (and final Cross

Crusade Series) race in Eugene at the acclaimed King Estate Winery.

Last

time out at Alpenrose, a record number of competitors (over 380 total)

tested their mettle on this classic Oregon cyclo-cross course. This

time

out is likely to meet or exceed that number of competitors.

The day of racing will kick off at 10am with the Red Lizard XC Footrace.

That race will be closely followed by the traditional Alpenrose "Kiddie

'Cross" event at 10:45am, followed by the Beginners/ Masters 45+ race

at

11:00am. Then, the Women's and Junior categories take center

stage at 11am;

followed by the Category B race at 11:50 pm. Our day will be

capped by the

highly competitive and always highly entertaining Men's A and

Masters 35-44

category races at 1:30pm.

As always, we would like to thank a fine group of sponsors and the many

volunteers that make this series happen.
