Hello All
I know it is early but I wanted to update you on the 2002 season.
I can give you a tentative 2002 schedule if you would like me to e-mail it to you just let me know, as it never works to send attachments this way.
SOME CHANGES
Beginners will be charged $20 and NO LATE fee at every race in the series. We hope this will bring more people into the sport.
There will be a state championship race, this is NOT the same as the finals. This is one race to be named state champion. There will still be the Finals at Mt Hood and if you race enough races and win your class you'll be the overall state champ.
Nearly every race will have a kids race...there free and fun, so bring a kid and get them hooked now. Every kid will get something.
More races will have a festival atmosphere with other fun events. Oakridge, the Spring Thaw, Mt. Hood and Bend will have great fun non-competitive tour rides, so bring some friends along to get them into the sport or use this as a pre-ride.
Events such as Oakridge and Shotgun Creek will have events such as bunny hop contest, wheelie contest, huffy toss and other events. Any other fun idea's let me know.
There will be a semi pro/pro class for the overall and at races that have enough racers for that class. Thus for the overall the Exp don't have to compete with the Pro's, so if you finish well at enough events you'll be upgraded to Pro/semi pro. Even if Exp and Pro have to be combined at a race we will sort out Exp and Pro for the overall.
Jim Fischer, Kevin Thompson and Shane Young will handle rules, points, classes, upgrades and those types of area's. They will be the OBRA Mt. Bike rep. Please if you have questions in those area contact them not me.
I personally am going to be handling Shotgun Creek again in 2002 and also I am bringing back Oakridge. My questions is would you rather race twice at Shotgun or Oakridge. The Oakridge course will include Salmon Creek Trail, The wall and Albery Mountain, with some roads to help connect them all. Beg 1 lap, Sport 2 laps, Exp/pro 3 laps. Shotgun Creek will the same as 2001. Both are great courses.
Any other idea's ??
