Hey all,

We'll be loading up the Griswold family cruiser in a couple weeks for
the classic CA driving vacation: visiting Nat'l Parks, relatives,
amusement parks, the whole enchilada... Hopefully gas won't hit $5/gal
before we're through.

Anyhoo... It took about 2 seconds to decide against hauling a bike along
due to A) basic space/logistics hassle, and B) it'd be a constant target
for theft/damage sitting on the rack for the vast majority of the trip.
But, at the same time I don't want to go 2 weeks without riding, plus of
course biking is a great way to really see new places. So, I was hoping
to be able to rent something more than just a beach cruiser while we're
down there. We'll be staying mostly in Moorpark, just a bit inland from
Oxnard and Malibu. It'd be easy enough to tote my own kit, helmet, and
shoes/pedals... does anyone know of a shop that'll rent/loan out decent
bikes (nice enough I won't be cursing it 30 minutes into a 3-4 hour
ride)? Of course I assume having to offer up a credit card for
collateral.

Likewise, any good ride suggestions in the general area? We'll be there
for a week, so ideally I was thinking perhaps one ride along the coast
and one up the the mts somewhere, roughly in the 50-mile ballpark (or
time equivalent for MTB/trail options).
