The cancellation of the Mary's Peak Hillclimb left a hole in the Norman Babcock cat 4 women's series . . . so we have filled it with TWO more events!  The remaining schedule for this series is:
* 8/3 High Desert Road Race (http://www.bendbellacyclists.org/hdo.html)
* 8/10 OBRA Time Trial Championships (http://www.emeraldvelo.org/state_tt.html)
* 8/16 Swan Island Criterium
* 8/30 - 9/1 Eugene Celebration Stage Race
That means there's lots more summer racing and lots of opportunities to shake up the points standings:  http://app.obra.org/results/2008/Road/13433
Remember, the winner of this series receives a Veloforma road frame, and participants receive other great prizes from Ironclad and Luna.  Many thanks to the generous sponsors of this exciting race series.

With 2 races down in the series, the competition heads down the valley
tomorrow to its third race; the Firecracker Criterium in Eugene, OR.
While the Veloce team has done quite well, the series is still wide
open. Beth Burns, who was tied with teammate Colleen Flaherty, was
recently upgraded to Cat 3. Currently in the lead with 170 points,
Colleen has 24 upgrade points- which means she is carefully trying to
calculate how to retain her lead.

The competition is still tight:

Pl First Name Last Name Team Points
*1 Beth Burns Veloce 170.0
1 Colleen Flaherty Veloce 170.0
3 Tamara Metz Veloce 66.0
4 Kira Crawford Ironclad Performance Wear 60.0
5 Sarah McCarthy Poplollies 52.0
*6 Heather Gundersen Veloshop 50.0
*7 Laura McGraw Veloforma 40.0
7 Kerri VandenBerg Poplollies 40.0
7 Tara Pemberton Poplollies 40.0
*10 Abby Jenkins Bridgetown Velo 36.0
10 Anne Linton Sorella Forte 36.0
12 Carolyn Goodbrake Veloforma 32.0
13 Judy Richardson Sorella Forte 24.0
14 Sherry Jako Sorella Forte 16.0

*Upgraded to Cat 3. If a competitor leaves the series from an upgrade-
they still retain all the points they have accumulated.

With 2 more races and a stage race coming- this is going to be one
exciting finish.

Participation has been excellent and it’s exciting to see so many new
women. Racers encourage your friends to come out! Following the
Firecracker Criterium, Kori Kunz will be providing feedback.

Thanks to Veloforma, Ironclad, Luna and Martha Walsh for their support
of women’s racing!!
