Candi Murray
I wanted to update you all on the current calendar and note that it still
is not final. I also need some feedback on a few ideas.
The WSBA is sticking with USA Cycling at this time mainly because of the
insurance needs BUT we are trying to work with them to get a revenue
sharing program going so they kick back some money to the state so we can
help fund and run our own development programs (juniors, cat 4 women, new
racers etc.) If this all works out then the WSBA will have funds that
people putting on clinics or camps or weekly programs can apply for a
"grant" from the WSBA to help cover the costs. If this happens I will let
you know.
One idea that came out of the calendar meeting was to sperate the State
Road Race championships into two races - Masters and Juniors on one course
and day and then Senior categories on another course and day. On the day
of the Masters and Juniors race there will only be other races category
races for riders age 19 - 29. For the Cat 1-2 men's state championship
road race the top Washington rider would receive $500 towards a plane
ticket, hotel and entry for the national road race - this $500 is from the
WSBA. I feel we should do the same for the women's race - $500 to the top
rider - to make it fair.
If you disagree let me know.
I should have sample race flyers up on
<http://www.pazzovelo.com>www.pazzovelo.com if you have questions on these
races.
State Road Races:
Masters and Juniors - Old Town Bicycle - Longbranch course May 11.
Senior Men and Women - Leavenworth Road Race, June 2. Cat 1-2 men's race
106 miles!
For the State Criterium I need to know who want to host the following
races as part of there crit.
Juniors - Joe Matava Crit. in Burien - Juniors A,B,C
Masters - ? this is a minimum of 4 races
Senior - ? this is a minimum of 5 races
State Time Trial
Two people looking at having it on May 12 - Rob Trombly and Marla Emde. I
just need to know who is doing it for sure.
State Stage Race
Anyone want to put this one - Draw back is that you need all the races (12
total) or we could split it out like the Road race. Give the Senior
division to Enumclaw, Masters to Walla Walla and Juniors to? let me know
your thoughts - If you have any.
WSBA membership - the fee is still $10 and forms can be found at
<http://www.pazzovelo.com>www.pazzovelo.com OR I can e-mail you one if
needed - let me know.
