What is the Largest (in Girth) Cross Tire Available ?

Mike & others -

Thanks for the replies & suggestions. For those interested there are at
least two possibilities (and probably a few more) that may work for this
purpose. As Mike notes the Panaracer Fire Cross K is a 700 X 45C tire with
pretty good tread and can be found at Universal Cycles. I also found an IRC
Mythos CX Slick in 700 X 42C at The Bike Gallery in Beaverton (it's more
like a dry conditions cross tire, not a true slick) and also online at
icyclesusa.com. Now to measure my frame to see what will actually fit.
Thanks Again

Yes, Eric is right...the limiting factor will be your frame. There are
more tire choices for 700c rims than any other size. For BC trails you
might want to just rent a mountain bike though!

They get really fat. 29er tires would probably mount on road width rim,
too.

I would think your main concern would be how fat a tire your frame can
accept.

I'm planning to take my cyclo-cross bike with me on vacation in a couple of
weeks in British Columbia and I understand there are some moderate to
difficult Mountain Bike Trails in the area, so I'm looking for the largest
off-road (Cyclocross or other) that will fit on a 700C wheel.

If you know of any, please email me off list.

Thanks
