Ape Canyon conditions

Road 83 is still closed at Marble Mountain due to the washout from 2006 so there is an extra 5 miles to the trailhead. The trail itself is rideable. On the wooded ridge climb there is only one little patch of snow at a switchback. There are maybe two downed trees on the upper section of the ridge (one left over from last year). One more patch of snow up before the plains but easily navigable. Up on the Plains of Abraham the trail is washed out in two dry stream crossings but easy to get across. The trail is pretty loose as the pumice hasn't had a chance to pack down much yet. Great ride though. Saw two other riders at a distance that turned around at the canyon overlook and that was it. Go get it! Cool start on Friday but sun broke through and it was a beautiful ride/day!
