For those of you who didn't receive the e-mail I sent out earlier this week...

Short Track season is only two weeks behind us and we are already getting everything lined up for our next big summer race event: the Kruger's Kermesse Farm Crit Series on Sauvie Island, starting on Sunday August 24.

So far, it looks like everything is falling together pretty nicely. Last week I was at the farm to finalize the new-and-improved course, which will be about a half mile longer than last year's course and which will include some real nice (read: fast) farm roads in the back of Don Kruger's property. Check out the course map I posted on Google maps to get an idea of how much fun the new course will be:

Some other important things to know:

1) Series Pass & Pre-registration:
Racers who race all three races get a discount, but you'll have to pre-register by next Monday (8/18) to enjoy this offer. All details on how to pre-register are posted on our race info page:
http://www.portlandracing.com/kermesse/info.html

2) Bib Numbers:
We will use special bib numbers, which you will receive at registration at your first race. So please leave your road bib #s at home. Also, make sure to budget enough time before your race to get through registration and pick up your bib number at the OBRA tent. Like in cross, your bib number will go on the left side.

3) Team Relay:
The team relay races have been a big hit, both at last year's Kermesse and at the Short Track Series Finale. We plan to further this unique race format by ending each race day in the series with a team relay race. However, for logistical reasons we will require teams to sign up in advance. If you like to sign up your team for the relay, just shoot me an e-mail before Friday August 22.

4) Kiddie races, live music, gourmet food, beer garden
Like last year, we will have the usual host of off-course activities that makes Kruger's Farm such a spectator and family friendly venue. As usual, we'll organize a FREE, fun kiddie race for the little ones. Salvador Molly's will be catering hot food and serving beer and other beverages. And each week, we plan to have a local band playing live music.

5) Sponsors:
Cyclepath, Chris King, Clif Bar, Rapha and Nossa Familia have stepped up to support this new series with great raffle prizes and goodies! Stay tuned for more details on all the cool prizes we'll have up for grabs!

That's it for now. We hope that this series will provide the perfect segway from short track and road season into cyclocross season, but we'll need you to come out and make it happen. Bring your friends. Bring your family. See you at the farm!

PS: We still need volunteers to help with registration, lap counting, course marshaling, and tear down. If you are interested in volunteering - and get to race for free - just reply to this e-mail with the dates and times that you are available. Volunteering is a lot of fun and it is a great way to help us making it all happen.

PS2: we are still looking for a band to play at the first race (Sun 9/24 between 2 and 4pm). If you know of any local talent that is available, please have them contact me directly via email. And just to be clear, it would be a paid gig.
