Hillclimb championships, TT bike/helmet?

The pace is too slow for a TT helmet, and they weigh a bit more and have less ventilation, both of which are important for a steeper hill climb.

Speaking of the Uphill TT, it takes place AUGUST 24, next weekend!

After being unavailable for the past two years, we're finally, back up
at the Mt. Hood venue.

For those who haven't seen this course, it's a smalll service road
that weaves up the mountain, under the chairlifts of Timberline's ski
runs. It's a beautiful route. I have a few pictures from a recent
trip up there at the following url:

http://www.erikv.com/blog/index.cfm/2008/8/10/A-Little-Adventure-on-Mt-Hood

Ballpark finish time is about 30 minutes. Some will go faster, some
will go slower. I would do about 30 minutes, I think.

PRE - REGISTRATION ONLY! We'll close it up on Saturday, the 23rd.
Start order is opposite reg order...so if you don't want to be chased
down by your peers, you should register soon.

To register online, go to http://www.signmeup.com/61696

Don't forget to re-inflate your tires w/ helium, too... Shaving grams
will definitely trump aero on this one.

Normal bike normal helmet, It can get hot on that climb. It is too steep
for a TT bike as they say you get no advantage from the aero position
when you go below 16mph.

Ian McKissick broke the course record on his TT bike last year at the
Wa Hill Climb champs, but Crystal Mtn Blvd is a lot faster than
Timberline

I'd say normal bike, normal helmet. But I'll be interested to hear
what the TT guys have to say.

I am planning to ride the Hillclimb championships next weekend. I'd like to
get some input from the community on my equipment selection for the event.
Should I ride a TT bike and wear a TT helmet? Or just go with the basic road
race setup? What will you do?

Thanks for the input.
