Wow, there are great deal of variables there. How long/far to ride to be
competitive? for what?
Think about:
What category do you ride and what are typical distances for that category?
Are you on a team?
Do you want to win?
Are you married?
Do you have a family?
Do you have a job?
Some racers have no responsibilities whatsoever and complain about how hard
racing is.
Others have huge commitments and kick "A".
I think the key there is time management.
If I were you, I'd talk to an elite coach.
