Why golf when you can do business on a bike?

Greg, why the anger/language? Maybe you have some misconceptions about networking. The benefit is when you are at your family barbecue this weekend and say your aunt asks if you know an electrician you can refer the guy you ride with each Friday who owns a company on her side of town....not send some tweeker who will be in her crawl space stealing all the copper and stripping all the wire from her house for a couple of hits.

The ride is an opportunity for other cyclist to share how they make a living not spread disease. Each person will give a brief description of what they do and listen to what others do and then conversation will most likely turn to normal group ride chat.

Maybe their will be a counselor on the ride that you can talk about your feelings with.

I don't like the idea of f-ing up a good ride with business. Golf sucks, so why not just keep it that way and do business there.

I look forward to making an afternoon ride (post Cycle Oregon, of

Let me start by apologizing for the subject title. I will just use Weekly Business Networking ride or something similar. My intent is to add to the OBRA community not segregate. I do appreciate the suggestion about the meet the team rides. I went to 4 of them between November and December of last year. I met some great people from Specialized River City, GSC United, Bridgetown Velo and Team Oregon. I would have been happy to join any of those teams but their team rides are on Saturday which I work regularly. Typically, Monday-Thursday I am slammed but on Friday's I have some more flexibility.

This group rides purpose is to help us use our Friday's more productively so we can spend more time with family on the weekends. So please join us....or I live just minutes from NW Saltzman (Saltman??)if that is the road you were referring to and I would be glad to meet up with you any Friday for some hill repeats.

If you really intend to infiltrate OBRA to sell some title loans, might I suggest first attending a "meet the team ride". Better yet, come on out to Saltman Road for some hill repeats. There you will certainly get some quality face time with OBRA racers (at the top), that is, after stuffing your lungs back into your chest.

BRILLIANT!
I always joke that I'm 'networking' when I'm ridding (as if one needs an excuse to ride)_ but this takes it to a whole new level!
I will be heading out to Cycle Oregon with the Nossa Familia crew next Friday so I will miss the first 2 rides, but keep us posted on the times for the following weeks!

Meet us each Friday starting September 5th for a business networking ride. The rides focus will be to develop relationships with other cyclists who have products, services and talents outside of cycling. The goal of this ride is to combine two activities crucial to your well being, exercise and networking. This will likely become a weekly ride and the routes/tempo will always be conducive to conversation.
Initially there will be three ride times to determine largest turnout. The ride will be paired down to the one time with the best response. The initial ride times will be 8-10am for early birds, 12pm -2pm for those who exercise on their lunch break and 3pm – 5pm for those who typically spend their Friday afternoon playing solitaire. I am an average Cat 4 rider so it is unlikely that anyone will be left behind unless it’s me.
Feel free to set up an account on www.linkedin.com and join the Group “Business on a Bike”. This can be used as a tool to build your network more efficiently.
The rides will start/end at Lucky Lab Beer Hall in NW pdx free parking (north of 19th).
Friday September 5th (8am-10am) (12pm – 2pm) (3pm – 5pm)
Lucky Lab Beer Hall, 1945 NW Quimby Street., Portland, OR 97209.
