The high school cross country ski racing teams are up and skiing-thank

you to Debra Carrus, Dan Silvernail, Jan Buschman, Mark Merkens, Les

Hedquist, and Janice Peterson for donating or loaning gear (we still

need skate length poles) to make it possible. A really big thank you to

Robert Buschman and Mike Bogar and Dick Fay and the other Teacup Nordic

club teachers for putting in so much time to teach the kids to ski. And

thank you to the businesses who are supporting the teams: Sunnyside

Sports in Bend for helping the league get off the ground with its early

Fall discounts on ski gear, and its rental and wax discounts, Otto's in

Sandy, our long time Mt Hood cross country headquarters, for the great

general support and rental and wax discounts, and the Mountain Shop

right here on NE Braoadway, where Jeremy Rooper has been our Portland

guardian angel, and has not only donated skis and boots but given us

maximum discounts to buy the skis and boots we still needed, as well as

wax and rental discounts. And thank you most of all to Jinny Martin, who

continues to work tirelessly to get kids on skis on snow.

Anyone out there with a high school age member of the family can still

get a team started at his or her school. Rodney Lee (292-0016) can tell

you how. It was great to see so many kids on cross country skis last

   weekend!

   Thank you all,

   Candace
