Who won that killer trophy? Props to Second Chance Sculptures for a fine
work of kinetic art. Any chance we can see more of those this season?

Great job, great venue! I thought the course was fantastic, dust included (added that lurking cloud of mystery feel to whatever might await you around the corner or down the hill). Love it and will spread the word to attend next year.

Well worth the drive from Florence (even though I suffered in more ways than expected).

Thanks, Chris

Pain on the Peak

2008-09-14

I behalf of Portland Velo and Sunset Cycles, I would like to thank all of
the racers and spectators who attended Pain on the Peak on Saturday.
Between the remote location, a new venue, and the fire danger that was
present in the area, there was the opportunity for a lot of things to go
very poorly, but other than some directional snafu's from the online map
services, and a huge amount of dust, things ran very smoothly. I do
apologize to all those who got lost!

I'd like to send out a special thanks to our OBRA folks Kenji, Scott, Candi,
Terri, Michael, Melanie, Diane, Bonnie and Lucciano "The Voice of Pain"
Bailey for helping make the event a success.

A few followup notes:

1. There was a reporter up on site from the Hillsboro Argus who was
taking photo's during the Single Speed race at the "Wall of Pain" (the run
up). I was told the article should be published on Monday.
2. Our two staff photographers will have their collection of photos up
online in the next few days for folks to enjoy. I'll send out a
notification to the list when they become available.
3. I actually received some comments from the Whitmore road neighbors
saying they wished some of the other residents on the street drove as
cautiously as OBRA community did.

If you have any comments about the event, the course, the sponsors, or
anything else, please feel free to mail me with it. We are hoping to do
this event and/or others next year and want the opportunity to make them
even better.
