I run and ride as well. When I am on the multiuse trail, I run with the bikes but to the far right of the path so riders can go on by. I doesn't bother me when I am riding that the runner is going against traffic to my far right. As long as I can clear them safely. I do move when I am running for a bike to pass. I can maneuver faster than a bike.

Agree that I hate the shout out when there is a group of runners. I don't think runners should be 3 or 4 abreast on a trail. Sets you up for something not good, goes same for bikes.

My new thought. If a runner is wearing headphones (I am on a bike), I don't owe them a shout. I just go as far away from them as possible and ride on nice and stealthy. If you yell "On your left" you might scare them, or they won't hear you, OR they will fling around and run into your path. This has happened more than once so I quit announcing myself. Common sense on both parties.
