Superman disguised himself as a mere mortal. How cool is that? Plus he has
the highest morals of any super hero. That's probably why superman doesn't
race CCX. It just wouldn't be fair.

If Batman raced CCX he would have to rely on his fancy equipment and trick
gadgets.

If there was a race between Lance, Batman, and Superman we all know who
would win.

Mt. Hood Cycling Classic

2008-09-26

Just for the record on Jeanie Longo at Hood.

She came and raced Hood because it is one of the toughest womens' races out
there and it was great prep for the Olympic games. She used Hood to spring
board to an amazing double win at this year's French National Championships
taking both the road race and TT. As far as money goes she took home $1200
in prize money and we comped her an entry and a rental car. A huge bargin
for Hood. She had heard tremendous things about the event and I spoke with
her all spring about getting her to come. It was both an honor and a
privalage to have her at the event. Even better to see her racing in the
local colors of the River City Bicycles Jersey (see this issue of VeloNews)
The results do not do justice as to how incredible she raced. Alone she
attacked the women's peleton making them work like they never have before.
She lost to the up an comer Julie Beveridge from Canada by just 11 seconds
but lost over a minute due to missed TT start on stage 3 on a questionable
bike calibration call (passed the prologue but not the TT inspection). She
beat a stellar women's field to boot.

She had a tremendous time at this year's race and in talking to her after
the event is looking forward to coming back in 2009 and racing the new
Oregon Pro Cycling Classic (fromally Hood). I hope everyone out there will
have an opportunity to come watch her race and take a moment to say hi. She
was one of the most approachable and sincere riders we have had the
privelage to host. I will never forget the experience to be in the presence
of such a legend (or see her race Tabor!)

So, then, should we change the Masters 50+ B field to "Batman Class"?

Superman disguised himself as a mere mortal. How cool is that? Plus he has the highest morals of any super hero. That’s probably why superman doesn’t race CCX. It just wouldn’t be fair.

If Batman raced CCX he would have to rely on his fancy equipment and trick gadgets.

If there was a race between Lance, Batman, and Superman we all know who would win.

I think you missed his point. Hi scomments were about the logetivity of
Jeanne Longo racing Career. Shes been at it since Lance was sucking down
Fudgecicles and watching the Smurfs on Saturday Morning.

Both racers are pretty amazing for what they have achived, I too was amazed
to see Jeanne racing at Mt Hood. At 50 She is old enough to be the Mother of
the entire pro peloton. She was not sitting in and lord knows she was not
collecting much of a paycheck.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jeannie Longo (born October 31, 1958) is a female French racing cyclist,
multiple (55 times) French and world champion. Longo is still active in
cycling as of 2008 and is widely considered one of the greatest female
cyclists of all time. She is famous for her competitive nature and her
longevity in a sport where some of her competitors were not yet born during
her first Olympic competition in 1984. She was selected to compete for
France in the 2008 Olympics, her seventh Olympic Games.[1] She has stated
that this will be her final participation in the Olympics.[2] In the Women's
road race, she finished 24th, 33 seconds behind winner Nicole Cooke, who was
one year old when Longo first rode in the Olympics. [3] At the same
Olympics, she finished 4th in the road time trial, just two seconds shy of
securing bronze medal.[4]

I would hardly say that Lance has been sitting on his ass in front of a TV,
gnawing on a
fudgesicle and watching Saturday morning cartoons these past years! Can you
say CANCER??

Granted he's been in some high profile romances, but if it were low key the
press would still make a big deal about it...I agree that some people have
too much time on their hands if they feel the need to badmouth others,
regardless of whether or not they're famous!

Maybe he wins, maybe he doesn't...but in the long run, getting off YOUR ass
and helping society is more important!!

Who's this Lance person that seems to be attracting so much
attention?

Back in May I noticed a distinct lack of buzz on the OBRA list when

Jeannie Longo-Ciprelli showed up for the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic.
This was like Madonna dropping in on a PDX music festival. Jeannie
was kicking ass when Lance was on his in front of a TV, gnawing on a

fudgesicle and watching saturday morning cartoons. Lance "retired"
and is now deciding to come back. Jeannie never left and never
stopped kicking ass. There are other pro cyclists that have actively

done more for the sport of cycling, for cycling as transportation,
and for society in general, than Lance Armstrong has. His major
contribution seems to be star-dom and the concomitant "reality
distortion field".

Sure, I suppose that it's good that Lance's presence may equal good

things for the bicycle business, but...

I'm in Jeannie's posse.

How about instead of knocking Lance, you focus your efforts on
praising the other riders. There is no argument for why he shouldn't
be getting all this attention, the argument is why haven't others. So
take it easy on the guy.
