Help: Strained achilles tendons-- BOTH legs!!

I'd concur with all the doctors on the list about treatment for Achilles Tendon's.
I personally have had Achilles Tendinitis and have gotten good recovery by doing a series of things:

self massage up into the calf muscles too, to help keep things loose.
keep the area warm, not just tiger balm, but socks, or I personally use little neoprene pads I cut from a thin neoprene sheet. I put them under my socks against my Ach Ten to keep them warm.
I also sleep in big goofy wool socks.
and I had great results with acupuncture to help increase blood flood to decrease swelling and speed up healing time.

Hey all,

Saturday afternoon I was stood on my toes on one of the back fence
stringers talking over the fence to my neighbor. I stood there
chewing the fat for so long that my calves got tired and sore.

Later that evening my calves and achilles felt stiff sore. What the
hell? Did I go and strain the achilles tendon in BOTH legs?? Sunday
morning both legs were feeling stiff and standing on my toes hurt.

Off to Barlow I go and run the steps. I had only applied some Tiger
Balm to my calves and didn't feel any particular discomfort.

This morning the stiffness and discomfort are a little more
pronounced. I can walk okay, I just have to be careful about pushing
off with my toes.

I can't believe that this happened because I stood on my toes. How
pathetic!!

I haven't yet gone through my books by Pruitt, Baker, and Burke-- I'm
sure I'll find something in there that will make me really upset
about racing CX at Alpenrose this weekend. :)

I'm hoping some of you guys can share some experiences, tips, etc. Am
I screwed? Is my best hope at Alpenrose to just sandbag the kiddie race?

Thanks!

Brian J.
