At the moment, there's construction on Cornell between 158th and
Evergreen. They are widening the road. I read in the Argus, I think,
that the construction is running behind schedule and is not scheduled to
be complete until November. Prior to construction there was no bike
lane, the traffic lanes were on the narrow side, and traffic volume was
moderate to heavy, depending on time of day. The construction is adding
bike lanes which will close the gap that exsted on this stretch before.
When I lived in Beaverton, I would ride this route frequently, during
commuting hours. It's convenient and direct. The addition of bike
lanes is a plus. Traffic-phobes might not choose this route, but anyone
with any experience riding in traffic should be completely comfortable
on this route.
