Cyclist Killed in Philomath

Could all of you please just be safe out there? It seems like we have
suffered an onslaught of tragedy for the past two years.

While I agree with you that we need to be careful and anticipate the actions
of cars, but if I interpret the article correctly, the cyclist was hosed.
The cyclist was on a long straight road, making a right turn. The on coming
log truck made a left turn from the same road to the same road at the same
time (ie made a left turn with on coming traffic, didn't yield to the
cyclist). The cyclist had no where to go but down and was extremely unlucky
to get run over. I would guess the cyclist tried to turn harder (as he
realized the truck wasn't going to yield) and slid, as today we are having
our first heavy rain in a while (I live close to the accident site and ride
those roads often).

ps - please note that I am trying NOT to fix blame or flame cars/trucks, I
don't know what actually happened and it sucks to have a cyclist hurt/killed
in my "backyard".
