Do not ride the course when you're not supposed to!

Eric / All,
I am not involved in the running of these huge events, but I sure can see how much like anarchy the whole thing could become if everyone thought "It won't hurt if I just go ride the course real quick as I can get out of the way of racers without a problem". If you envision just one or two riders doing that, it might work. If there are hundreds that would like to do it the problem becomes apparent. I wanted to preride and ended up just riding around the edge and walking most of it. I stayed totally out of the way and put up knocked over cones as I went along. It would be great to pre-ride, but I just do not see how they can work it in with the number of races. When the Master 50+ raced the 9AM race, it was pretty easy to ride a lap or two before our start as no other races were taking place. There was desire by many riders to move the 50+ later in the schedule and so here we are with the same situation as MOST of the other riders doing the Crusade. I personally figure it all just works out. The more intense I get about WINNING, the less it becomes an activity that is healthy in my opinion. If I can just remember that the course is the same for each rider, the better I perform. I hope folks understand how hard it is for the Crusade to manage that many people wanting to ride that course.... 1213. I am impressed. The course was really fun by the way, even though it beat me up real good.

I did not realize there was an issue. I hope the course officials understand I was not trying to piss them off.

I will feel the side effects from today's pennalty for a few days. Ouch! If anyone wants to start 30 seconds back from everyone else - I recommend not listening to the organisers about when the appropriate time to ride the course is. A lesson learned.

Policing warm up times must be neither fun nor easy. That said, did the
women get any time to pre-ride today? Seemed like they kind of got stuck in
between and had to recon on foot.

I will feel the side effects from today's pennalty for a few days. Ouch! If anyone wants to start 30 seconds back from everyone else - I recommend not listening to the organisers about when the appropriate time to ride the course is. A lesson learned.
