Kevin
Hello Obra-ites,
Christmas is approaching and I think that makes a good excuse to get a new bike!
My question is, why a double/10 instead of triple/9?
I don't race regular races though I did compete in Race Across Oregon and plan to ride Furnace Creek 508 next year. My recreational rides tend to be 50-100 miles in length.
My current ride is a Marin Argenta....steel ... with 53-43-30 triple and 11-27 9spd. I also have a 56 tooth chainring I can put in place of the 53 for those strong tailwind days. ;-)
I realize that a full carbon TT bike with a triple would cause laughter and scorn but.....
the triple has served me well. I'd like to get a lighter/more aerodynamic bike but don't like the idea of losing my wide range of gear choices. I spin a 90-95 cadence most of the time.
Okay you smart bike folks.... what are the advantages of a double/10 spd and why should I get one instead of having a new bike set up with something like I've got on my Marin?
Thanks,
Kevin
