Sorry, I actually meant to only send this to Jeff McNamee. No biggie to copy the list I guess, it just wasn't my intention to start a whole chat thread....yet.

Jeff,
Thank you for putting on such a unique cross race. I met up with friend from Bend and a friend from Portland to do this race together, and I'm from Vancouver. It is a nice central location for OBRA members. The course conditions were not as fast as they initially appeared to be with all the soft grass and moss-like turf so I had to adjust my race tactics and equipment choices. I had a lot of fun.
But, I also think you have a great opportunity to run a Kermesse road bike event there. I have attended all of Jeff Mitchem's PIR Vanport Kermesse races and I think there is potential to develop a year-long "Kermesse Kup" or something with Kermesse races all over the region. It is the unique blend of cyclocross and criterium or circuit race that has the potential to draw in a lot of these OBRA members who only race cross and get them hooked on racing their road bike during the rest of the year too. The Golf Course you ran Battle creek on seemed to have a lot of old cart paths that appeared to be adequate for road bike traffic too. I enjoyed that Skull Hollow race out in Madras a few years ago and have always wanted some sort of Roubaix style event. I have yet to get down to the Eugene Roubaix race, but plan to this year. I am thinking of getting a course together up in Clark County, Washington and would be interested in teaming in some way with others who might want to build more interest for Kermesse style racing.
Let me know what you think and if you want to entertain this topic for further discussion. If there is interest I'd be open to helping pool some effort.
Thanks,
-Tim Schauer

Jeff, Steve and I wanted to thank everyone for coming out to the BattleCreek CX race this past Saturday; we had a blast! It seems that a little rain not only gets the grass to grow but also brings out the cross racers, who would have thought! The women's fields once again proved to be the biggest and certainly seemed to have the most fun! Thank you ladies for reminding us that we are out there to have a great time. Willamette Valley CX is looking forward to having bigger and better events next year in the Willamette Valley. Oh, and if you get a chance, check out Fuelly.com. Golden Valley Brewery in McMinnville, Bike-n-Hike, BicycleAttorney.com, and Capitol Subaru because they were the great sponsors that helped make these races happen.
A huge thanks to the Salem area bike clubs (Capitol Subaru Cycling, Capitol Velo and Marcroft) and Steve Yenne for arranging the venue and setting up the course.
Thanks and see you next year!
