One good reason to go with Comcast is that you will be able to watch "VELO
television"
on Comcast SportsNet.

My thoughts are purely economic. I am part of the cell phone only generation and by coincidence, the cell service in through Verizon. Verizon will not bundle the products so that you can have cell service, cable, and internet at a bundled rate. They only bundle home phone, cable, and internet. I don't want a home phone, I moved on from that 6 years ago. I'd rather have the cell phone replace the home phone in the bundle so that my cable and internet costs go down. But alas, a Verizon switch would cost me more today than I pay for cable and internet with Comcast.

Dave,
We made the switch to Verizon a few months ago... mixed reviews. My 17 year old likes it because she gets faster downloads and as a gamer she has enhanced graphics. On the other hand, my wife complains almost daily about how un-user friendly the TV viewing has become. I'm not much of a TV watcher, but one definite negative I've experienced is that when you pause a program, and enough time elapses to cause the program to restart, it plays in real time so that you have to rewind all the way back to the point where you stopped play. That never happened with Comcast. It would alawys start where you stopped it. And even though we thought we would save about $30 per month, it really has not panned out. My vote... stay with Comcast.

Hi Obra folks,

Tonight I had a Verizon sales guy come to my door trying to get me to switch my TV and Internet from Comcast to Verizon. I already have the network fibers installed in my neighborhood so the switch would be easy.

My questions are: Has anyone made the switch and if so what are your thoughts? And if you have always been on Verizon what are your thoughts anyway?

The savings to me is about $50 per month (seems like a natural choice), but I want to get an idea of other people?s experiences.

Thanks.

I wanted to say thank you to everyone who has responded and I just wanted to
give a brief update at this point.

The group is split fairly evenly. Only 1 overwhelming vote to make the
switch and a few "positive" votes to do it. The majority of the people who
have responded don't necessarily like their Comcast (service problems, low
quality, etc), but might not be able to make the switch if they could for
various reasons. There has only been 1 very negative reaction overall to
Comcast.

If anyone else has thoughts on the subject, I would still like to hear them.
Please reply off-list for now and I can email out a final verdict after
another day or so.

I am only looking to switch my TV and Internet (cell phones only in my
house- Verizon no less), and while I do not have a crazy plasma TV/ Surround
Sound/ movie theater style setup, I do like my DVR and Xbox online gaming.

Again, thank you for the responses thus far.

Dave
