Semi-pro 2009 and new cats

Question: Previously, for the women's mountain biking categories the "Sport"
category went into the Cat-3 BAR points and "Beginner" was Cat-4 BAR points.

Will both women's Sport (now MTB Cat-2) and Beginner (now MTB
Cat-3) categories now be mapped into Cat-4 BAR points, since there is no
Cat-5 for women?

Hey,

As the Mud and cold settles into our bones , 2009 is just around the corner
and the new OBRA membership form will have revised categories for next years
Mountain Bike Season for all Disciplines.

I wanted to go over the changes as they are subtle with a few exceptions.

You will be able to sign up for on the membership form

To relate to road or make any rider comparisons

Pro mtb= Pro cat 1/2

For both men and women

*Semi-pro is gone for USAC and OBRA, and all of you semi-pros can either
upgrade to Pro (your choice) or race as a Cat 1 in your appropriate age
group and upgrade from that point*
*Once you choose Cat 1 you are locked into that decision and have a one time
option if you are a current Semi-pro to make the jump and train your butt
off
*
Age groupings at the races, for the most part will consist of, but may
change slightly----This will not be on the form, but will be for the most
part available at most races

Pro Men, Pro Women, Cat 1 men, Cat 1 Women, Cat 1 35+ Men, Cat 1 45+ men,
Cat 2 U18 men, Cat 2 19-34 Men, Cat 2 35-44 men, Cat 2 45-54 men, Cat 2 55+

Many races are being planned and a big, big series of events will be offered
as well from participating races TBD from the Oregon Series
