Any of you have hub generator lights?

There
was recently a lively discussion of this on the 650B list. The
consensus there seems to have been that Schmidt was the highest quality
with excellent support (but hard to get product). Shimano was the
choice for the more budget minded (at the expense of limited options
for parts and servicing).

Yes, I realize that this is a pretty fredly
topic to be raised on a
racing forum, but some of you surely cross over in to the randonneuring
world.

With that out of the way, here is my
question: do any of you have
lights that are powered by a front hub generator?  How bright are they?
(I
know, I know, answering that question is like trying to paint trim with
a
vegetable sprayer but a general idea would suffice).  Also, would you
recommend them over battery powered lights?  Any other tidbits of
informaton
on these would help.  I'm not immediately poised to rush off to order
one
but I am giving the idea some consideration.  I would actually buy
someone
a beer (or latte or waffle at a cross race or ?) if I could ride along
with
them and see one of these in action.

Thanks.

I suggest using a Light On! 900 with rechargeable loose cell batteries.

OBRA members get a 10% discount if ordered by phone. 503-259-2931.
