Jacob (and to others who may be intersted),

Here is a set of links I uncovered in a few minutes. Note, all projects
were Googled under the phrase 'Open Source Bicycle Frame' and 'Design'.

http://www.ihpva.org/wiki/index.php?title=Open_Source_Velomobile_Development_Project
http://www.informationweek.com/whitepaper/Enterprise_Software/wp100301?articleID=100301
http://metals.about.com/b/2003/08/11/free-bike-frame-design-software.htm

Through SourceForge.net there is:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/hac4linux/

These are the only links I found that referenced software applications
or packages.

Does anyone have any information regarding available software for bicycle frame engineering analysis and design? I am a building structural engineer with an interest in applying my expertise in the bicycle frame building industry. I won't bother with much of the technical jargon, but I would appreciate any information on:

1) available software and analysis specifics (Finite Element Analysis, boundary conditions, loading parameters, etc.)
2) any local frame builders currently use, or have need for, technical engineering consultants?

Portland is so great for riding, racing, and cruising, with a flair for custom made bicycles, good beer and people, etc. It would be great to be able to add something to our local industry.

thanks much in advance.
