Hillsborobiking and CycleOne Coaching have teamed up to enable more kids to learn to love biking, enjoy an active lifestyle and to mentor safe, smart and confident mountain biking skills and responsibility.
Hillsborobiking (www.hillsborobiking.org) is a not for profit biking club that coaches kids to excel in life using Ready Riders Rock! a MTN Biking curriculum created by Dr. Bud Harris and managed through the Hillsboro Parks and Recreation Dept using a $5,000 bike grant from REI. The organization empowers kids to succeed in school and in life. Through the sport of mountain biking, riders have the opportunity to develop the skill, values, and strategies that will guide them throughout their lives. Five programs have already been developed by Dr. Harris including the Annual Labor Day Youth Hike-Bike-Dash @ Stub Stewart State Park, the FitnessWork Kids Pedal & Dash, and Ready Riders Rock! just to name a few. Whether it is classes being taught through the City of Hillsboro Parks and Recreation, FREE Sunday rides through Hamby Park in Hillsboro, or area Bike BootCamps, the chief aim of Hillsboro Biking is to inspire you to: Get Up, Get Out, and get Going! on a bike.
