Professional Bike Fit

At the current cost of gold of about $25/gram and assuming a bike fit is about $150, a good fit will only weigh 6 grams.  That won't hurt your climbing too much.

The bike fit is worth it's weight in gold.  Seth Hosmer also provides a great bike fit.

well, yes, but only if you think it will help.

if you are comfy and doing fine, you might not NEED it.

But if you want to improve, it is one way to improve.

some people by lighter gear, more carbon, etc.. Some get fitted.

Some do both.

If you are not looking to improve, then why get a fit?
not being snarky, but there should be a goal, other than spending money.

I am in favor of fit.

Chris-
Absolutely. After my fit with Seth and the custom orthotics he ordered, all
the aches and pains went away, my endurance increased, and riding was
generally a more pleasant experience.

I would say yes.

I got fit last year by Michael Sylvester. I didn't have any major pain or discomfort issues, but had an idea that I could use some improvement on my road position, and wanted to use the numbers from my road fit as a basis for a custom cross bike I was having built.

Michael was extremely thorough doing detailed measurements of my current bike fit, an interview about my riding/racing/injury history and goals, checked flexibility and range of motion, took before, during, and after digital photos and videos of me on the trainer with old/new position, and consulting with me on the new bike design. He also logged in all the information into his system so I can duplicate my fit if I ever lost the numbers.

He confirmed that my pedaling position was good, and suggested changes to my hand position (stem length, rise, hood position, and bar shape). While he made suggestions, he also listened to my feedback and concerns, and we ended up making changes based on that.

He showed me his concerns on my position, and backed up his observations with photo/video evidence so that it was easy for me to see what he was seeing.

In the end, I think I paid about $125 for the fit, plus bought a new bar/stem from him. He saved me about $60 on the bar/stem, so I figure the fit really cost me about $65.

My road position has improved, and the new cross bike fits like a glove.
