Road Conditions for Monday/Tuesday

Rick C Johnson

2008-12-14

Hey, just come on over here to Bend. The ice is setting up nice and hard
(better traction that way). Tonight's low temp is forecasted to be near
minus 4 and the high for tomorrow is going to be around 10.
I just got back from a few laps around the neighborhood (at a balmy 6
degrees) and it was sweet, didn't even need the studded bike tires.

Quenton,

Make this a rest week, Chains are required for cars!!! Don't try to ride in that.

A broken collarbone (or worse, a broken hip) caused by a fall on ice will have you off your bike for 4 + weeks.

And give you a whole lot of medical bills to pay. If you're lucky....

There is plenty of time to catch up when the weather improves Or go to Russell or Seth for a spin class or other activity.

Ride Smart.

Mick

I'm eating cookies and drinking beer  :-) No riding for me.

Both of those roads can be very dangerous in this type of weather as cars
commonly go out of control on ice.

I'm always a big advocate of getting out, but I'd recommend something off
road (cross\mtn). The roads stink and won't get much better and colder temp
overnight will refreeze a lot of the stuff that thawed.

I'll ride off road on inside tomorrow.

May be a good day to be safe and not sorry. Either ride on the trainer, or get the cross or mountain bike out and ride in Forest park. I think tomorrow is going to be crazy on the roads.
