re-anodizing?

Apex Anodizing might be able to throw it in a black bath for you over on
92nd street. There usually is a $50 minimum. Pretty nice small shop. Any
surface finish abnormalities, gloss, satin, bead blast or otherwise will
come through on the anodized finish though. You will also want to remove
the previous anodizing. Best bet is to bead blast it to a satin finish and
then anodize. They may include that with the minimum.

I've got some old black Cooks cranks that have very worn anodizing and I was
thinking of having them re-anodized. Its been a long time since I have used
any local anodizers and I wondered if anyone had any recommendations or
advice as to why its a dumb idea. These are also pretty scratched up in
places, so I'm not certain that it will help a lot.
