Ladies,
Erik Scheller, who's promoting the Washington State road race championship in 2009, is interested in applying to make that race part of the Nature Valley Pro Ride series. There's a link to a description of the program in his message below, but the short version is that races selected for the series offer a spot at the Nature Valley Grand Prix as part of their prize list for cat 1 men and cat 1/2 women. Erik is trying to figure out if there would be a big enough field to make their event qualify.
If you're a cat 1/2 rider who might be interested in doing this race with that prize on the line, please contact Erik (justfivegrins@hotmail.com). The event is Saturday, May 2, and Erik can probably give you more info about the course (we used in for the WA masters RR in 2008), which is west of Tacoma.
Thanks for reading!

Ladies,
I am looking for your assistance - if you wouldn't mind doing some quick canvassing of your racing peers for me.
Looking at the numbers of Women CAT 1/2 racers that separate fields for those categories (from the CAT 3's) that typically race in the NW the fields are generally less than 20. The Wenatchee RR had 20 racers while the Senior State Championship RR in Longbranch had 19. Elkhorn had 30!
I am looking at trying to be a qualifying race for the Nature Valley - Pro Ride at next year's WA State Senior RR. We may possibly to work in concert with the OTB team which puts on the Longbranch race (we race that same weekend) to make it an omnium, which is a format the NVGP folks seem to prefer (or a Stage Race) over a stand-alone RR (through we'd be considered).
The hinge on the selection for the race qualifier seems to be with the Women's CAT 1/2 numbers. This year the west coast qualifying race (down in CA) had a stand alone Women CAT 1/2 field of 35.
If we could come close to those numbers I think we'd have a good chance at making a great impression.
My question to you folks is - given that the NVGP is a quality production with some great potential for racing at the national level - do you think we could get enough CAT 1/2 Women to commit to participate from the various teams in the Pacific NW (WA, OR, ID, etc.)? And if we could possibly get an email affirmation from those various teams that they would support our effort to gain the west coast qualifier that'd be wonderful.
Our RFP was due and submitted last Monday (DEC 15th), but I think if we supply some supplemental information well before their decision timeline (JAN 5th) it'd have a good influence.
Thanks for your interest, I'd appreciate your help.
