HEY ALL!

As of today, the last of the blow/snow down has been removed on both sides.
Very few muddy areas, but we are supposed to get some moisture, which will
make the north side get slick again quicker than south. I may go out and
ride south side (trying to get in shape) on Sunday. Will post again
Saturday afternoon/evening if something gets organized. If I were to go
out, I would probably want to start 9-10AM. Ride at least 2hrs at a pretty
good pace for an old man, not pro level for sure... maybe more if I have the
gas. If interested let me know here or 503-285-6356 land line.

South side is drier than north side, I rode for two hours on Monday. A
little tacky, thanks to the volunteers and Pump club members who cleared the
trails last week.

I was out poking around the browns camp area on monday with my son, the
gales creek loop and storey burn stuff is all on the east or shady side of
the summit so still really snowy. Most of the browns camp stuff seems to
be on the west or southwest side of the hill so you could see clean dirt
quite aways up the trails and for the most part the road was clear enough to
ride , it would still be alot of work at this point to patch together a ride
if you were looking for an uninterupted hard effort. I think a little rain
would go a long way to help with the snowmelt up there but it is still
january after all.

good luck,

Jake

Does anyone know what it's like out that way? Replying to the list is fine
so everyone can find out who might be interested.

I was up at the new state park outside of Vernonia (Stewart Stub) yesterday…trails were muddy but in descent shape.

The biggest problem I found was fallen branches…very little snow. Could make a descent alternative..

Tack on a few miles with the Banks-Vernonia trail and it could make for a good ride…
