For race details go to the new OBRA page Oregon Bicycle Racing Association,

click on Cherry Pie Race, and in the flyer click on the link of "map" to see

a course map and elevation profile. If you did not race last year, think

about these aspects of the course: It has a hill (450 feet over 1/2 mile) and

several miles of gradual down hill following and to the finish. If you can

climb well you can win, or if a group of non climbers can work together you

can catch the climbers and win. You will have some tailwind most likely and

some side wind to work on echelons, and the head wind section is pretty

protected. The descent is straight and not technical and you can go 40 to

maybe 50 MPH. The finish line is flat, and we will try to open both lanes

for the 200 meter sprint.

If you have your OBRA numbers please pin one on your back and one on your

right side. If you are signing up for an OBRA license on the day of race you

will get your number then, but it will take more time to get registered.

Save 3 bucks by getting your registration sent off by Friday the 8th. You

don't need a registration form, but go to Oregon Bicycle Racing Association

click on forms and download the waiver and mail it with a check for $15.00 to

2 Dog Racing; 1860 W 14th Eugene, OR 97402. Registration will be INSIDE the

Hungry Farmer Cafe where you can register and buy a hot cup of coffee or

chocolate.

I am also looking for a driver of the OBRA truck to arrive at the course by

2:00 PM Saturday the 16th. The driver will get a free entry, a free lunch,

and nice place to sleep at the home of Ted Turner who will be the Chief

Official.

Get free entry by having someone put in time as a corner Marshall or driver

and also get a free lunch of a sandwich, chips, fruit, drink. If you have

someone riding with you that is not racing and they want to volunteer, let me

know and I will get you in touch with our volunteer coordinator. E-mail me

or call at 541 485-6007

Swag: Each rider entered will receive an energy bar, i.e., Cliff, PowerBar,

or Luna thanks to Pauls Bicycle Way of Life Bike shop and the EWEB Windpower

Cycling Team.

As a donation to the community, part of the entry fee will go to EWEB, the

local utility's, Energy Share Program to assist low income families pay for

their utility bill.

Driving time. Allow about hour and half to hour and forty-five minutes from

Portland, and 20 minutes from Eugene.

And don't forget the pies. 42 handmade cherry pies have been ordered from

Wild Plum Gourmet Pies for the top 6 in each category.
