I will gladly clean off someone's OBRA stickers from their membership card if they are willing to trade for any Scott Plasmas they may have lying around.

No subject is truly boring and inane until I comment on it. So here it goes.

It's a good thing I am home sick today, I now had time to remove the old sticker, clean the card and put the new stickers on. I used a 16 step process.

1, Find my card
2, Find my new stickers
3, Go to Home Depot
4, Buy 1 gal. mineral spirits
5, Go home
6, Look for the OBRA card I found earlier and have now misplaced
7, Remove old sticker
8, Pour 1 gal. mineral spirits in a bucket
9, Soak card for 1 hour
10, Wipe card clean
11, Wash card with warm water and soap
12, Dry card
13, Put new stickers on
14, Pour 1 gal. used mineral spirits down storm drain
15, Toss steel mineral spirits can in the trash
16, Clean bucket with warm water and soap

The sarcasm in this e-mail is made with 80% recycled material and the bitterness is derived from a 100% Fair Trade, shade grown joyless childhood.

No, it's because no OBRA card has ever been accused of doping and had
to withstand the withering scorn and rush to judgment inherent therein.

Now that would remove any adhesive ever made!

BECAUSE.... the larger sticker that would cover all the excess
adhesive that is exposed when old sticker is removed... goes on the
back of license not the front. The small bar code sticker goes on
front, leaving most of the old adhesive exposed to collect just
about anything that will stick. I learned the hard way by putting
the sticker in the wrong place at first, then later having to remove
the adhesive on front. It is not that hard... just use an adhesive
remover (if stubborn a single edge razor blade provides some
mechanical assistance) and dishwashing soap to clean it up, rinse...
slap on the new stickers.

1.. Physically remove sticker.
2.. Use Goof Off to soften sticker residue.
3.. Use Goo Gone to remove Goof Off residue.
4.. Wash with soap to remove Goo Gone residue.
5.. Apply new sticker.

YMMV

Well, I took my old clear sticker of the OBRA card, I am having a hard time getting the residue off of the card. I tried rubbing alcohol with a cloth and with one of those teflon pot scrubbers, and neither really does it. The residue seems hard, though, rather than sticky, and the bar code sticker will probably stick to it.

Has anyone had the same problem and fixed it?

Is the problem with the residue that it keeps the card from scanning? In that case, I guess I better do something about it. If, however, it's how to make the card nicer for the member to handle, maybe I can just ignore it for a while. Does anyone know if it's an issue for scanning, or whatever we are doing at races with the cards this season?
