KINK 102 FM TO INTERVIEW GARY FISHER AS PART OF LEGENDS OF CYCLING EVENT,
FEBRUARY 15, 2002

early this coming Friday morning? If you're listening to the radio this
Friday (2/15), tune in to KINK FM 102 at 6:45 am and listen to Gary Fisher's
interview with Les Sarnoff on the Morning Show.
Gary was one of a handful of guys in sleepy Marin County, California that
started a whole new sport in the late 1970's, first called "all terrain
bikes" and later "mountain bikes." Gary Fisher is an icon of the sport he
helped to create, and an active supporter and builder of the cycling
community at large. Gary will be one of the Legends of Cycling coming to the
Nike Cycling Development Camp at Nike's World Headquarters in February
15-17, 2002.
Associated events open to both camp participants and the general public
include:
Legends of Cycling Evening, Friday, Feb 15, 8pm Stanford Amphitheater, Tiger
Woods Center: A night to remember, this unforgettable evening will include
presentations from guest athletes, keynote speaker Chris Carmichael (coach
of 3-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong), a multi-media
presentation, a Trek/b.i.k.e. kids fashion show, and an onstage trials demo.
Seating capacity for 700. Cost: $25. (An intimate reception with guest
athletes will precede the presentation from 5:30-7:30pm. Bike raffle,
giveaways and hors' d-oeuvres included. Cost $75 for reception and
presentation. Limited seating). Admission at the door.
Legends of Cycling Benefit Ride, Saturday, Feb 16, 1pm, Hagg Lake, Forest
Grove: . Open to all levels of cyclists, the ride will take place on the
scenic, low-traffic road that loops around Hagg Lake in Forest Grove,
Oregon. Riders will be divided into groups according to cycling experience
and distance covered (routes of 11-66 miles), with accompaniment from guest
athletes. On-road mechanical support provided by The Bike Gallery and bike
demos from the Trek demo van. Registration open at Hagg Lake, Boat Ramp C.
Trek (<www.trekbikes.com>), Nike Cycling, VeloNews (www.velonews.com) and
the Bike Gallery (www.bikegallery.com) are major sponsors of the weekend's
events. Net proceeds will benefit the Lance Armstrong Foundation
(<www.laf.org>) and b.i.k.e (Bicycles and Ideas for Kids' Empowerment,
<www.kidsofbike.org>), a non-profit organization dedicated to mentoring and
coaching inner city youth.
