Yes... there are lots of options and lots of coaches. In fact, there are several outstanding coaches in Portland! Who's the best? Take your pick. None of these guys invented the wheel and nobody has the only best approach. If that were the case, there would only be room for one cycling coach in Portland. Any way you look at it, you are better off having an expert analyze your data and provide some meaningful training guidelines that serves your personal needs. Otherwise, you just bought another expensive toy. I will say that I find it interesting that it appears that the vultures are flying overhead... It's not really about who did it first, or who has been doing it longer. I have been racing bikes and training athletes longer than some of you have been walking... but does that make me the "Master"? No... it just means that I know a thing or two and I am dedicated to my craft. The old adage that "Knowledge is Power" applies here more than any other! I offer a valuable service that is currently being offered at a discounted price. Call it a cycling stimulus package. Yeah... take your pick.

Subject: Re: [OBRA Chat] Power measurement data
Actually, there are several great resources for power data evaluation in Oregon. Jeb Stewart was one of the original founders of Trainingpeaks and knows this data as well as anyone. Adnan Kadir is also an expert at reading data and one of the top coaches at the Peaks group. Adnan is in California temporarily, but will be back soon. Jeannette Rose is the only power-certified coach in Oregon through USAC and has tremendous experience, as well. And she has coached the top guys in Oregon like Doug O and Evan E. I guess I have been analyzing power for over a decade now too, so I might know something about it..... and I'm sure Seth at HPChiro does a fine job too! Lot's of good options. It's easy to track any of us down. Visit our websites, give us a call, do a little research, and find the person that works for you. OBRA is lucky to have these resources in Oregon.

This e-mail is not meant to be a slam on michael manning, as i am sure you are really good. However, if you are in the portland area, the person you want to review and analyze your data is Jeb Stewart. He is one the best in the country, helped Hunter Allen write the book "how to train with power" and teaches "how to use your power meter" and other related courses for USA Cycling and their coaches.
