Reminder to Teams

Pistis Mountain Bike Racing Team

2009-03-10

We are mostly a mountain bike team with a few riders doing some road races and CX races. We do have a mountain bike official on the team (me). Do we need to have a road official? If yes we are happy to have some riders go as soon as they have a training in SO. Oregon.

I'd say if you don't know if your team has an official, time for someone to sign up for training (if no one knows, the answer is likely "no")! Or ask your team members if they're trained. I'm not sure maintaining a list would be a huge help...but maybe I'm missing something here. Teams without email lists of their own (but big enough to not know if team mates have done the official's training)?

Personally I think having an official (or multiple like Guinness has) helps when it comes to issues on rules or decisions made by officials. That way you have someone on your team you can ask about a rule, race ruling, etc.

(Those outside of the Willamettte Valley are excepted- there will be training in Bend and Southern Oregon in the future)

So.... I'd advise those in Portland to take advantage of the training opportunity.

Maybe some sort of list needs to be established so that each team knows if
they have an official or not. Personally I think having an official (or
multiple like Guinness has) helps when it comes to issues on rules or
decisions made by officials. That way you have someone on your team you can
ask about a rule, race ruling, etc.

As a reminder to all teams- it is an expectation that you send someone
to be trained as an official.

(Those outside of the Willamettte Valley are excepted- there will be
training in Bend and Southern Oregon in the future)

So.... I'd advise those in Portland to take advantage of the training
opportunity.
