Please see the info below about the West Side Omnium in Washington on May 2-3, 2009. These are two good road race courses, and the prize list offers CAT 1 Men and CAT 1/2 Women a chance to qualify for the Nature Valley Grand Prix in mid-June, among other things. You can do both races or just one. See the blog listed below for more details. Contact info listed at the bottom of this message (that means please don't send your questions to me!). -Martha

As you may (or may not) know, the Glenwood RR and the Longbranch Classic RR have combined forces in 2009 to offer the West Side Omnium. While each race is independent of one another for race management purposes we are collaborating very carefully to ensure a seamless event for all involved.
Our race flyer is finally in the hands of the USAC Chief Referee and we anticipate release of that and further details to be approved shortly. For now limited information is available online at http://WestSideO.blogspot.com.
Online registration registration will be handled by Sports Base Online and I fully expect some fields to fill before day of race (especially CAT 5 Men & CAT 4 Women with USAC limits of 50 racers); so plan ahead. I fully expect this to open next week. You will see a logo and link at the above blogspot page when online registration is open.
Host hotel will be the Day's Inn near Port Orchard (360-895-7818), with an online link at the above blogspot. They have set aside 20 rooms for our race until April 17th. Mention the "Old Town Bicycle bike race discount" for $78 for a single & $83 for a double. We will also have virtually unlimited parking possibilities at the Longbranch Improvement Club parking lot for those bring a sleeper van, RV, or who wish to camp on Saturday night.
The weekend of racing will have a lot to offer - WA State Senior Championship status, BARR points, WA Cup points, and for CAT 1 Men and CAT 1/2 Women a chance to qualify for the Nature Valley Grand Prix in mid-June.
Total Prize list will be both for individual races and the omnium - weighted toward those who accumulate the most omnium points and worth approximately $6000 (cash & merchandise - mostly cash). Prizes will go 3-10 deep depending on category. Stay tuned for details.
Any questions please review the blogspot page and then either contact me or Tom Hackleman for further info.
