This is from the nwcycling list, so could be a dup, but want to make sure

that everyone knows that this comming Friday night includes a special

juniors race. Also we will have the cub scouts at the track early on Friday

so that might add to the number of juniors for the 5/19 race.

So I am hoping to see all the junior riders on friday night.

The Marymoor Velodrome Association and Alpenrose Velodrome would like to

welcome

each junior to the newly developed Larry Burkey Memorial Junior Track

Series, an

8-race series spread throughout the summer at both velodromes in

commemorative

of former Team Washington coach/rider and frequent Marymoor Velodrome racer,

Larry Burkey.

The main details:

Race Dates and Races:

Races at Alpenrose Velodrome (Portland, OR)

May 19 - 5x2 Win-n-out

years old USCF/ACA Cat 1/2/3

4/5,

and any 10-13 years old rider

Women = women will race in their own category subject to participation

Entry fee to each of the above races is $5 which will include a bike rental

if

needed.

Points are placed 8 deep in each category and each race and will be totaled

at

the final race to determine the winners from each category. Category winners

name will be engraved on the Larry Burkey Memorial Junior Series trophy.

Other

prizes may be offered to category winners and will be announced once

available.

For those juniors who have recently signed up for a Marymoor Track class,

this

would be a great way to do some races, especially under the Friday night

lights

and in front of the upper division elite track riders.

If any non-track racing junior interested in the Seattle area, please

sign-up

for a Marymoor Junior track class by contacting Renee Duprell (206)

344-3538.

Junior track classes are free of charge.

Likewise, new velodrome racing juniors at Alpenrose are required to attend

Wednesday night track classes to race at the Alpenrose Velodrome. Contact

Mike

Murray for more information: mmur-@teleport.com .

Questions about the series can be sent to Rob Whitacre at

RWhita-@montana.campuscwix.net .

So brush off those rider uniforms and come out under the sun and lights at

both

the Alpenrose and Marymoor Velodromes to race and have fun with other fellow

juniors racers.
