I'll second that recommendation. I've been using this recipe to "brew my own chainlube" for well over a year. Not only is it inexpensive, it works well. I've just now reached 1.5 % wear on my chain and have nearly 20k miles on it. I do clean and re-lube frequently, but have never had a problem with it running out of "slippery" before my ride is over, even on a 200 mile ride.
