OT: virus detecion

Got several replies ranging from helpful to snide.

I went into the Task Manager and "NAVW32.EXE" is consuming 65% to 80% of the CPU cycles. This is the name of the Norton Security executable, but it has never consumed this much CPU time. Ergo, I have a fairly invasive nuisance.

Again, does anyone have any information about this?

I'm getting pop-ups from "Spyware Protect 2009 Alert" that I'm being attacked various internet viruses. It appears to be a come-on to buy their software. Anyone out there in OBRA-land have experience with this?

And better yet, how can I make it stop?

For what it's worth, my PC is running Norton security.

Thanks.
