Mtb Trail Conditions Around Bend (lower elevations)

Just returned from Bend on Monday after several days of mountain biking.
The trails in SE Bend near Horse Butte and Skeleton Cave are in exceptional
condition. This includes the Coyote Loop Trail and Arnold Ice Caves Trail.
All these trails are dry and firm. A 10 mile foot race on Sunday pounded a
section of the Coyote Loop Trail into the best shape I've ever seen it in.
Just make sure to wear tights to protect your legs from the occasional blood
sucking bush.

I rode lower phils stuff yesterday, and it is not bad, the bike came out
pretty clean.

On the higher stuff you will find hard snowpack.

I rode grey butte a couple of times and both times you would have wanted to
skip the north side, which can be done by taking the dirt rd that parallels
the trail. A lot of the trails on grey butte/smith rocks are great right
now.

Cline buttes is excellent now as well.

Can anyone tell me about the mountain biking trail conditions around Bend ?
We're thinking of riding there this weekend, and wondering if the trails are
ridable & in good shape ?

Thanks

Mills

The lower trails in the Phil's area are still mostly unrideable... too many muddy spots, and trees down from the January windstorm. Probably a couple weeks until lower Phil's area is good to go.
The lowest section of COD, the Entrada trails and about half the Deschutes River trail are in good shape.
However, Horse Ridge is in great shape, Maston is in great shape, and Grey Butte might be drying out... so there is some good riding if you don't mind traveling a bit out of town.
You can check http://www.cotamtb.com/trails/ for current info.
