Here's the math: 30MPH = 44 FPS (approximation). Therefore a 4000 pound
car moving at 30 MPH is carrying 176,160 Foot Pounds per Second of kinetic
energy. A bus is a lot bigger than a car. And a lot less maneuverable.

This whole scenario is one of the reasons that police come down so hard on
cyclists. As one cop I met said,
"I'm tired of picking up the pieces."

There's a pool hall saying that's been around forever: "You can't be lucky
forever and you can't be stupid for free."

I have to go with the fact that Darwin's Theory of Evolution in the end is
always proven correct. Try merging (on a bicycle) into the described
situation and surviving once (daylight or dark) does not mean survival of
the fittest. It means very LUCKY.... this time. I hope he realizes that he
had a very close call and does not try it again. That would also be the
"theory" at work. He can try the fancy stuff on the race course.

Really??

Clearly we should use this forum to praise the noble man for his bike handling skills and nerves of steel.

I am only saddened that I did not get to witness the feat myself!
