ABICI Bikes To Sponsor Top Oregon Development Team
Abici Bicycles is proud to announce a 2-year sponsorship agreement with Team
Oregon the Pacific Northwest?s premiere cycling development team. ?We are
excited to be increasing Abici?s exposure through such a solid, grass-roots
club,? says Abici?s Clark Metcalfe.
New to the high end cycling market, Abici produces Tour de France pedigree
frames made in the United States. Using only the finest grade Alloy and
Carbon Fiber, Abici sets the benchmark for cutting edge, stylish and durable
cycling technology. ?If one wants to compare us with another manufacturer,
think Colnago, DeRosa or Pinarello,? Metcalfe points out.
Abici?s flagship model, the Starship, received rave reviews from Cycle Sport
in the magazine?s January, 2002 issue. Additionally, Abici will offer new
models of competitive weaponry for 2002. The time trial specific Time
Machine, Time Machine-Track and the Vader, as well as the XLR8R Road Racing
frame to be ridden by Team Oregon members.
Team Oregon has developed a number of national caliber racers in the last 5
years. 16-year-old Larssyn Staley (now with the world renowned Saturn
Cycling Development program) is the holder of numerous national junior
titles and reigning Women?s under age 23 national champion. Hood River?s
Luke Pennington, a multiple junior national champion, and up and coming
Mikkel Bossen both continue to develop at the highest competitive levels
with Team Oregon.
Team Oregon members promote cycling events throughout the state. Weekly
races and introductory classes at the Alpenrose Velodrome in SW Portland, a
weekly circuit race series for women and masters racing at Portland
International Raceway and the Eugene Celebration Cycling Classic are a
sampling of events promoted by the members of the Portland-based cycling
club. More information about Team Oregon can be found at
