My Garmin is insane when it comes to elevation.? It read somewhere north of yours, and I quit early (after the 2nd ambulance).

It's called sandbagging. My legs say somewhere between the 2, and your reading is probably closer to reality.

My Polar 720 had about 7250' (I say about as I know it was 7820' from my house and estimating the climbing to the start and a little back home) and felt it was pretty accurate. I have measured the accuracy (against topo maps) on several climbs in the mountains and found it to be 98% + accurate. Of course this is running, hiking or skiing, but I would imagine cycling provides the same accuracy level.

I didn't do the Ronde this year but my Ibike told me it was closer to
10000 than 5000. Brad probably doesn't want to scare anyone with the
real total, or he is old fashioned and just guesses.
