That is a nice route. However, keep your eyes open riding the section just south of Siletz.
I've ridden that stretch twice (about a year apart, but both on Saturday AM), and both times I've gotten passed WAY too close for comfort by the local cop that patrols that stretch. On both rides, the guy passed at a good clip with no more than a foot to spare when I was to the right of the fog line, and there was no oncoming traffic on a wide, straight, open stretch of road.
It appeared to be some sort of tribal police, so I'm not sure how far his jurisdiction goes.

You can make it shorter and a bit easier by taking Hwy 20 for 7 miles from Newport to Toledo instead of the route along the water, though the route listed here is much more pleasant and scenic.
The bit between Rocky Creek Wayside and Otter Rock is amazing... if only it were longer!
